Mahashivaratri festival or the “The Night of Shiva” is celebrated with devotion and religious fervor in honor of Lord Shiva, one of the deities of Hindu trinity. Shivaratri falls on the moonless “14th night of the new moon in the Hindu month of phalange, which corresponds to the month of March- March in English calendar. Celebrating the festival of shivaratri devotees observe day and night fast and perform ritual worship of Shiva lingam to appease lord Shiva.

This day includes many legends according to a popular legend, when hunting is not in a jungle; he waits at a tree and begins to throw leaves of the tree in order to attract the deer. At the bottom of the tree there was a Shiva Lingam. Its believed that Lord Shiva was blessed with the wisdom of the forest and the patience of the hunter and he was blessed with wisdom. The hunter did not stop eating meat.

After the immediate destruction of the earth, he prayed to lord Shiva to save the world. Shiva prayer for his prayers to save the world from worshiping the devotee with devotion and eagerness to the worship of the puja. The night was known as Mahashivaratri and the people began to worship Shiva as a great enthusiasm.

Some devotee of lord Shiva consider this day as the day of Shiva. It’s believed that lord Shiva is the answers given to parvati as the favorite day of the goddess. Mahashivaratri is a festival celebrated by followers of Hindus in India. On the day of shivaratri, the people fast and sing songs in the name of lord Shiva.

Hindu temples across the country are decorated with lights and colorful ornaments. All temples in India on shivaratri are special pujas and prayers. All the devotees are awake around Shivarathri and pray to Shiva lingam. Because, of the belief of lord Shiva the saplings are cold water and milk given to Shiva Lingam on this day.

Mahashivaratri pray at the night before the lord for all the expectations of the hardships in their minds from people fasting. As it has been, its believed that lord Shiva is hearing the grievances of the people. It’s a belief that Shivaratri wakes up and thinks that if the whole night prayed lord Shiva.
