Everybody know where to go & which places are best in Valparai. But there is some places not allowed to visit in this seventh heaven (Valparai).
1. Kadambarai Power House
This is the place where Hydro electric power plant worked. Tourists are not allowed to visit this place because of the reserved area. This power house get water from the kadamparai dam & the water runs over to upper aliyar. If anybody want to visit inside, need a proper approval to higher officials.
2. ChinnaKallar Tunnel (Upper Nirar Dam)
Chinnakallar also named “Chinna Cherrapunji” is located 20km away from Valparai city. Because of the highest rain fall this area have this name. It surrounded by the mountains by all direction. Upper Nirar Dam is located in entrance of the Chinnakallar, where the water stored and diverted into the tunnel, ends in Solayar dam which is located 40km from this tunnel. The water level may increase in the monsoon season and visitors are not allowed to visit. These dam is one of the water reservoir to PAP project and collect water from the western ghats. You can visit this place when you get permission from the forest department.
3. Anaimudi Settlement Area
These area is located in the deep dense forest and animal crossing zone area. Also the language speak by the tribe people is a combination of Malayalam and Tamil. Way to this place is very sloped area. You can see this place from the Nallamudi Viewpoint (Valparai).
4. Akkamalai Grass Hills (Pul Medu)
Grass hills located in the Anamalai Tiger Reserve. Nature lovers and students related to forest department are allowed to visit this place. This place have lot of history and used for relax by the British People in the early 19th century. It has the grass land which make you eye catching feel.
5. Manampalli Reserved Forest
These area is very eco friendly and wildlife area. So we can’t do visit. And you can get a chance to visit the Maanmpalli Forest Rest House for family outing with proper permission. There is one water power plant running to process water from Sholayar Dam
6. Upper Sholayar Dam (Inside)
Upper Sholayar Dam is a scenic dam located in the Western Ghats near Valparai, Tamil Nadu. It serves primarily for irrigation and hydroelectric power. The area around the dam is known for its lush greenery and tranquil atmosphere. Popular for nature walks and photography, it provides picturesque views of the surrounding hills. The best time to visit is from October to March.
